Workers In a Global Economy: Must They be Left Behind?
Demos has organized a interesting program on the global economy.
Thurs., April 17, 2008
Program from 12:00-2:00 pm
at Demos 220 Fifth Ave., 5th Floor
New York, NY [ directions]
NAFTA, CAFTA, the Columbia Free Trade Agreement, climate change and issues of the global economy are front and center in our Presidential debate. The laissez faire vision of the global economy has been discredited but what vision can take its place? Does it have to be a race to the bottom for workers or should it be about raising standards? Please join veteran journalist Robert Kuttner, Demos Senior Fellow, who is writing a new book on issues of globalization, trade and equity, to explore these challenging issues.
Joining Kuttner will be Katie Quan, Associate Chair, Education and Training Director, and labor specialist at the UC Berkeley Labor Center, Sean Sweeney, Director of the Cornell Global Labor Institute, and Fred Azcarate, Director of the AFL-CIO, Voice@Work .
